RTF was founded in 2006 by Jeremy and Brandie O’Brien. Today it is a family run riding school with Brandie running the day to day operations as well as coaching and training, Jeremy is farm manager and our junior assistants, Kendra and Devin help out where they can.
Brandie has been riding all of her life and has been teaching students and training horses since she was in high school. In her early years, Brandie worked, boarded, taught lessons and camp, broke and trained sale horses and was on the show team at Monsell Equestrian Centre. She was a member of the Lakeland Pony Club and she worked and boarded at a competitive trail riding barn in Oro. She has worked at an Egyptian Arabian breeding farm in Innisfill and worked and boarded at a Lusitano breeding/training/classical riding barn in Bolton. Brandie has shown Trillium Dressage, adult hunter, trained, conditioned and ridden endurance and competitive trail rides. She has ridden in eventing competitions, and has students and horses competing in hunter and eventing throughout the Muskoka region. This broad spectrum of experience has given Brandie barn management knowledge and teaching skills that she now passes on to her students. Brandie also completed Environmental Engineering Technology Degree at Georgian College, which gives her experience in paddock and farm maintenance. The Farm Rocky Top Farm is currently located on 16 acres of Muskoka farm land. In our “valley”, there are green grass fields and right in the centre, the Rocky Top Pond. During the summer months, summer camp students will go to the lake to search for frogs, minnows and other wildlife. We have access to trails along an access road that runs parallel to the farm, as well as through the fields and the trees.
Our facilities include several separate turnout paddocks, a grazing pasture, shelters, an 8 stall barn, tack room, locker room / future lounge, fully enclosed round pen, sand base dressage ring, jumping ring, cross country course, and limited trails.
